STEM for Her Scholarship Program now accepting applications!
As part of our ongoing initiative to help young women pursue careers in STEM, we know that to increase opportunities, we must remove barriers wherever possible, including financial. That is why STEM for Her is launching two $5,000 annual scholarships named after women very near and dear to the SFH family, Louise Peabody and Dede Haskins. They were both shining examples of leaders helping young women in STEM, and we couldn't be more proud to recognize them with this program.
Louise Peabody Memorial Scholarship ($5,000) As the first woman partner at a Tysons Corner accounting firm, Louise was committed to her community through her work with Women in Technology for many years. She later served STEM for Her as Treasurer. More recently, she was devoted to building STEM for Her programs and mentoring young women to develop skills and a love for tech and education.
Dede Haskins Memorial Scholarship ($5,000) With a 25-year career in technology, Dede was recognized as an influential businesswoman in the D.C. area. She was president of Women in Technology and a founding member and board chair of STEM for Her, where she focused on bridging the gender gap to create a more diverse and productive workforce.
