STEM for Her, in partnership with GIT and the University of Maryland, sponsors CyberPatriot Girls, a program to support middle and high school girls’ involvement in the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot program (www.uscyberpatriot.org). CyberPatriot is the premiere national high school cyber defense competition and was created to inspire high school students toward careers in cybersecurity or other science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines critical to our nation’s future.
Program Description and Results
In partnership with the University of Maryland and GIT, the “CyberPatriot Girls” program was offered in 13 schools in Maryland and Northern Virginia. The program provided teams of middle school and high school students with mentors and the opportunity to participate in the Air Force Association’s CyberPatriot program (www.uscyberpatriot.org), a web-based, tournament-style cyber defense competition.
STEM for Her funded a “Fun-A-Thon” in June 2016 that brought girls in the CyberPatriot program together with girls from other GIT programs to demonstrate cyber skills and listen to speakers in a fun and educational environment!
